Hollow Shaft Gearheads

Hollow Shaft Gearheads Hollow shaft gearheads are right angled, flange-mounted gearheads that use worm gears and special helical gears. They are ideal for keeping equipment compact. They are available in a variety of sizes. They are locked with a torque arm when mounted so the gearhead does not rotate from the reactive force of the load. For mounting a hollow shaft gearhead, a coating of molybdenum disulfide or similar grease is applied to the inner diameter of the load shaft. Coating is done to prevent binding.

They do not require couplings for mounting and thus allow additional space savings and simpler mechanism designs. They increase system reliability and decrease system cost by eliminating the need for separate couplings. Mounting is greatly depends on the shape of the shaft. They offer high gear ratio and a lower output torque. The hollow shaft gearheads have a peak torque rating of 7,450 in-lb and a peak radial load capacity of up to 1,798 lbs. They are available in various frame sizes.

Typical applications of hollow shaft gearheads include induction motors, reversible motors, electromagnetic brake motor, speed control system, and synchronous motors. The main application includes space-constrained automation.
